The heart should flow between parents, siblings, and friends. Doing this gives us the hope to meet people, gain their hearts, and discover happiness.
A person who enjoys true happiness is someone who opens and exchanges his or her heart with others. On the other hand, if a person closes their heart and falls into their own thoughts, they become weak in mind and spirit. The evilest of people are those closed off within their own thoughts.
If we open our hearts and accept the hearts of others, we can be happy and create happiness in others.
Young people in particular, have become extremely adept in navigating the uncharted waters of globalized communication and commerce. More power is being placed in their hands and some are capable of effectively utilizing it for the better, but most fall short. The disheartening reality is that our world is in dire turmoil. It needs the care of individuals who know how to live, serve, and regard others before themselves.
IYF World Camp brings people from around the world closer together in every way. As they get to know each other, cultural barriers are broken and from it, a filter-free heart of acceptance grows. Whether it is running the short distance marathon or participating in group fellowship and team building activities, World Camp participants are given the opportunity to break out of the mold created by their own limitations. This broader minded thinking can help students focus on the big picture and lead others to success.
The World Camp facilitates direct cultural exchange, different perspectives on leadership and future roles in society, and the path toward spiritual fortitude. Take my word for it: the World Camp is by no means, just a camp.
We at the IYF are especially excited about the 2011 World Camp in New York. But our goal is for World Camp to be more than just a “great trip” or an “unforgettable experience.” Our hope is that World Camp can be the turning point for the lives of those who attend.
Your support, advocacy, and mentorship are essential to our mission of developing spiritually and cognitively sound individuals for the next generation. Future leaders are born at the World Camp. How? We plant faith, nurture hope, and harvest change. Please join us.
The IYF World Camp is an event that provides the foundations for sound leadership by guiding youths, primarily college students, to break free from their limitations and preconditioned standards to experience possibilities that exist beyond their scope of understanding.
The World Camp implements a dynamic offering of programs specifically designed to promote and enhance spiritual and mental growth, global awareness, and leadership by placing emphasis on education, performing arts, team building, and leadership training.
The World Camp is a ripple effect.
Many camp participants in the past have returned to their respective schools and have enhanced their extra-curricular activities on campus. They have gone on to utilize their newfound knowledge and an increased spiritual insight in many various professional settings. The IYF World Camp aims to be a platform for continual growth in young people as they make the transition from a university setting to the “real world”, where their actions have the potential to ignite change and positively affect those around them.
What defines a successful IYF World Camp? The skills or inspirations that students acquire? Realizing a career path? Making friends? These are all very important milestones in shaping one’s future, but the World Camp first aims to instill its core values in those who attend.
The entire World Camp operation aligns with these specific virtues. Through its unique programs and fellowship-friendly atmosphere, the World Camp opens the way for students, counselors, and staff alike, to experience life-defining moments.

Young people have infinite potential. But, many still need enlightenment in the form of wisdom and foresight maintained through a heart of faith and hope. The power of youth lies in understanding that one must bend, break, and change their heart in order to serve others in an ever-evolving world.
Young people need to learn that breaking their hearts can give them the depth and breadth to live for others and lead the world. The IYF World Camp uses a proprietary, 3-step process consisting of programs that help young people discover the power of their youth and effectively apply it for causes greater than themselves.

The deeper a tree takes root, the longer it lasts. The same goes for developing a sound mind and a heart of faith. Doing so is essential to leadership development. World Camp participants will create a spiritual depth that allows them to persevere through the obstacles of life and place the well being of others before their own.
IYF World Camp gathers prominent spiritual leaders from around the globe to come and share their experiences of living in faith. These lectures help participants experience a world t hat is unseen with the eyes, a realm that exists within the heart. The IYF World Camp believes that spiritual fortitude can lead to true success and genuine happiness.
The IYF World Camp invites highly esteemed individuals from the public and private sector to speak to participants in a large group setting. Whether an account of personal history or sharing their secret ingredients of success, guest lecturers at the Leadership Symposium speak on what shaped their framework of thinking and paved their way to become leaders.
Fellowship and Life counseling sessions, conducted by experienced camp counselors, help steer camp participants to a path where they can discover their full potential. The group fellowship sessions are opportunities to meet new people, create strong friendships, and learn from one another’s experiences. Individual life counseling is collaborative and treated on a case-by-case basis.
IYF World camp provides a two-part world culture experience that:
CULTURAL PERFORMANCE
Each night, World Camp brings the world onto one stage. Performances include dynamic dances and a-cappella, traditional songs in foreign languages, and the presentation of unique instruments. To experience these beautiful displays of world culture allows us to understand that, despite all our differences, we are connected through one common thread. Our hearts.
WORLD CULTURE CONVENTION
The World Culture Convention is a World Camp event where our volunteers showcase the regions of the world, as seen through the eyes and heart of the IYFEF, in a great exchange of cultures and diversity. The World Culture Convention is where dreams get planted, global potential is realized, and newfound appreciation of the world is formed. World Camp participants have full access to the entire convention. As part of the World Camp, participants can
Young people face several crossroads during high school and college that changes the course of their lives. The problem is, these formative years often result in apathy or hopelessness; phenomena that stem from lack of foresight and knowing where they fit in as prospective contributors to society. The IYF World Camp has created an innovative blend of programming designed to give students hope in life and allow them to see the big picture.
A variety of engaging academies are set up at World Camp venue to accommodate the diverse interests of participants. These academies are hosted by knowledgeable and experienced professionals who have devoted themselves to teaching and possibly sparking interest in their specific field. IYF Academy at World Camp covers many different fields of expertise, such as:
Team chemistry is extremely important to the dynamics of the IYF World Camp. A happy and complete life is not accomplished on one’s own, but by uniting in spirit towards a common goal. Counselors and camp administrators constantly promote team building for each individual group. Fun, structured inter-group activities like the sports competition and group photo contest strengthen the heart for teamwork and camaraderie. The closer a group becomes, the greater the trust and willingness to support one another.
The fact is New York is the center of the world for so many things. Part of the reason why IYF is excited for World Camp in New York is that participants who come from all over the world will get the opportunity to see its beautiful sights. World Camp participants will also gain insight into the commitment and sacrifices it took to build New York City from the ground up.
Everyone at the World Camp runs the short-distance marathon. Each gasp of air pushes the runner to their limits, but once they hit their second wind and break through their physical barriers, they experience a whole new race. The short-distance marathon is one of the main highlights among camp attendees for one main reason. It becomes a great metaphor for life and all its possibilities.
The IYF World Camp garners support and advocacy from prominent individuals around the world. It has become a gateway to once-in-a-lifetime opportunities in overseas volunteering, college campus leadership, and unique internships. Through World Camp, young people have been infused with renewed hope and a clear vision for their futures. Lives have changed, people are talking, and the results are clear. It’s all about the commitment to help young people fully harvest the change they experience at the World Camp.
The World Camp is currently held in 30 countries throughout the year. And there are IYF headquarters positioned in 80 different countries to specifically handle various volunteering projects. The result is instant access to a vast world network that can support hopes and dreams to travel abroad and serve. The World Camp also equips participants for leadership roles on their university campuses. Participants will understand that there are genuine opportunities available for continuing growth and development beyond the World Camp.
In 2008, after attending World Camp, I was given the opportunity to travel to Liberia as a Good News Corps volunteer. There, I discovered what happiness was despite not having some of the basic necessities like running water or electricity.
But on March 25 at 4 AM, an insect bit me on my right foot. I was treated for malaria at a local clinic, but soon after, I lost consciousness. I was moved around from hospital to hospital, but there was no place that could treat me. After losing consciousness twice more, I woke up and continually felt dizzy and exhausted.
I thought to myself, "This is how I'm going to die."
Pastor Ock Soo Park, the founder of IYF and World Camp, called me and said, “John, now is the time where you must look to the Lord.” His prayers and the Word of God he delivered were the only things I could remember.
An American doctor finally examined me and diagnosed the wound a scorpion bite. The poison had spread from my foot to right below my knee. He informed me that I might need to get my entire leg amputated, so naturally, I fell into complete and utter despair. I couldn’t understand why something like this was happening to me.
I soon realized I was someone who tried so hard to get ahead in life, but was truly nothing in the face of death. This realization allowed me to clearly see the heart of God. Life became so simple at that point. I read the words in Romans 4:17 and gained the faith that God would heal me from my rotting foot just like he kept me alive in Liberia. After receiving follow-up treatment for the next 3 days, I steadily recovered and on April 18th, I was back, managing language interpretation services for the summer World Camp.
I’ve since decided I want to experience the rest of my life in the hands of God.
The Good News Corps creates opportunities for volunteering projects abroad and directly engage in major aspects of foreign culture: language, cuisine, music, architecture, sports, and traditional performances. Through this interaction, volunteers adopt global perspectives and forge a genuine heart for service.
The Good News Corps also strives to improve host countries by advancing collaboration and international exchange, as well as improve the quality of life for those residing in each participating nation.
The Good News Medical Volunteer Program (GNMV) is a humanitarian volunteer organization that delivers medical treatment and relief to underserved individuals across the globe, suffering from either untreated diseases or the effects of devastating natural disasters. GNMV volunteers return understanding what a professional career in medicine is really about: having a true sense of happiness and fulfillment.
The World Camp provides workable models for cultural and enrichment programs that college students can implement on campus. World Camp participants are encouraged to take the World Camp experience and start their own IYF or Good News Corps clubs to promote volunteering, cultural awareness, and spiritual growth. With active roles in IYF campus clubs, young people can better explore the parameters of leadership. Past World Camp participants have also engaged in student government and become more integral in higher education administration.
Through fruitful partnerships with non-profit organizations, secondary and post-secondary schools, global medical research companies, and world missions, the World Camp can open students up for potential internship positions in these fields. These internships give participants the opportunity to manage their own projects and work directly with third parties.
